Lucknow, Sept 11: Maintaining that outgoing Uttarakhand Chief Minister Ramesh Pokhariyal Nishank will have an effective role to play in the party, senior BJP leader Rajnath Singh today said change of guard was part of strategy and ruled out any kind of “groupism” in the state.
“The decision was taken unanimously and there is no groupism. Nishank will have an effective role to play in the party,” Singh told reporters here.
“Whenever a political party has to go to polls in the state it naturally chalks out its strategy and prepares an action plan. Whatever development has taken place in Uttarakhand, it has taken place as part of the strategy,” he said.
On being asked about corruption in BJP ruled states, he said there were neither any corruption charges against Nishank nor any enquiry by any investigating agency.
“BJP has already said that wherever prima facie there is any case against any chief minister or minister, he will resign on his own. In Karnataka, B S Yeddyurappa resigned after Lokayukta's report,” the BJP leader said.
Singh said the decision for change of guard in Uttarakhand was taken by the party's central board as a part of the strategy. PTI
