In Pics: Narendra Modi joins the selfie fever

New Delhi: BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi has joined the league of tech savvy politicians. The Gujarat Chief Minister today took a selfie as he cast his vote in Gandhinagar. But this is not the first time that Modi has taken a selfie. Previously he had taken it with Chetan Bhagat who had instantly tweeted “You know a leader has the youth pulse when he can discuss job creation and is still up for a selfie!” This pic became an instant hit and was retweeted over two thousand times. Few days back Poonam Mahajan (National secretary of BJP) had taken a selfie with Mr. Modi too. This selfie was retweeted over a hundred times. For those of you who are not yet aware of a selfie – it's a self – portrait that one generally takes from their phone. And of course the next step is to upload to a social media website. Selfies have become ever so common but the fact that an Indian politician takes it makes everyone gawk.Barack Obama too had taken a selfie with David Cameron, UK Prime Minister and Helle Thorning Schmidt, Danish Prime Minister at Nelson Mandela's funeral in Johannesburg, though many criticized this move as it was taken on an unseemly occasion. Narendra Modi is deft in cozying himself amongst the youth because of his approach and acceptance of new media and the fad of technology. He is considered India's one of the most tech – savvy politicians. He often uses holographic technology to address rallies across the various states of India. Lok Sabha elections 2014 have witnessed an increasing impact of social media. With the advent of the new bie party AAP managing to reach to the masses through this medium, Narendra Modi was never lagging in the race. He was one of the pioneer Indian politicians to join Twitter. BJP and Indian National Congress too have set up teams to handle their social media sites.
