Bhopal: Congress General Secretary Digvijay Singh on Sunday alleged that his phone was being tapped by the Madhya Pradesh government.
"I know that the Madhya Pradesh government taps my phone. I have no problem with it," Singh said a day after he rejected the involvement of the Centre into the alleged phone tapping of four senior leaders, including himself.
"I don't believe this story because Manmohan Singh's government cannot do such an unethical and illegal task," he had said.
Singh, however, during an interaction with reporters at his residence said he had no objection to his phone being tapped.
He further accused Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan of protecting corrupt ministers in his cabinet.
Chouhan should seek resignation of Industries and IT Minister Kailash Vijayavargiya, who is embroiled in a land scam in Indore and against whom the Lokayukta has started investigation, Singh said.
On a special session of the state Assembly being held next month to discuss the concept of 'Golden Madhya Pradesh', he said to see such a state he "would have to borrow glasses from the Chief Minister".
A prominent English news weekly has claimed that the phones of Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, CPI(M) General Secretary Prakash Karat and Digvijay Singh have been tapped.
Political parties have criticised the government for allegedly resorting to snooping on leaders. PTI
