Vadodara, Oct 3 : Slamming political parties that criticised Allahabad High Court's verdict on Ayodhya title suit, Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday termed them as "hypocrites". "People should identify these hypocrites who do not respect judgement of a court," he said.
Modi asked the people to defeat the candidates of these parties contesting civic elections scheduled to take place in Vadodara, Ahmedabad, Surat, Rajkot, Jamnagar and Bhavnagar on October 10. He was addressing a public meeting in support of BJP candidates contesting the elections here.
The chief minister opposed the demand of the Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee requesting the State Election Commission not to declare the results of civic bodies polls on October 12, as elections for 25 district panchayats, 208 taluka panchayats and 53 nagarpalikas are scheduled on October 21.
"Congress party has realised that it would loose polls in six civic bodies taking place on October 10, that is why it has raised this demand," he said.
Modi criticised Congress for allegedly using CBI to harass him in Sohrabuddin fake encounter case, saying he was not worried and was ready to go to jail, but people of Gujarat would not let that happen. PTI
