Modi's Delhi rally: BJP meets Muslim clerics to seek support
New Delhi: Leaders of BJP's Delhi unit Friday met the city's ulema (Muslim clerics) to garner support for the first-ever public rally of their prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi in Delhi Sunday.According to Bharatiya Janata
Modi has remained a controversial figure for his alleged complicity in the 2002 communal riots under his leadership in Gujarat.
The BJP is desperate to give the rally a secular hue with reports doing the round that party workers are not only wooing the city's Muslims but are also asking them to attend the rally dressed in burqas.
The party leadership however, has denied the allegations.
With Modi's rally, the Delhi BJP is hoping to resurrect its fortunes ahead of the assembly polls in November.
