Modi needs to go back to school before addressing rallies: Khurshid

New Delhi: Ridiculing Narendra Modi's knowledge of history, Union External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid today sarcastically remarked that Modi should first go back to school before addressing election rallies. “It looks like Modi needs to go back to school and take proper lessons in history. He could not understand history. He does not know where Takshila is situated. He does not know the correct names of his party's founding fathers. “There is no coordination between what he wants to speak and what he says,” Khurshid said while interacting with the media on sidelines of a CII event here. Targeting Modi over alleged snooping on a young woman in 2009, Khushid said, “Kabhi wo shehzada ko sahebzada keh dete hai aur sahebzada ko shehzada. (Sometime he calls shehzada a sahebzada and also the other way round). “I think he needs proper lessons. He should talk only after completing his lessons,” Khurshid said. On BJP's allegation that Rahul Gandhi's charisma is diminishing and lesser number of people were attending his rallies, the Minister suggested that BJP should be concerned about its own activities.“Why BJP is concerned when large crowd is coming to their rallies and spending time. They should not be concerned why people are not attending our rallies. Let them do their own work and let us do ours,” he said.“Instead of being bothered about strength at our rallies, they should tell you (media) how much they are paying to get the crowds or how much crowds are charging. If they want to tell you (media), it is okay. We are not bothered,” said the minister.He said, “They had arranged big rallies in places where they later lost elections. Where were those people who attended the rallies in Bangalore. They organise big rallies after losing the elections.”Dismissing charges made by Modi in his speeches at rallies, Khurshid said, “I would react only when Modi says something intelligent. It is not about the strength of rallies, but what are being said.”To a question about Anna Hazare seeking a reply from AAP Convener Arvind Kejriwal on party funds, Khurshid said this action was taken very late.“He (Hazare) has sought a reply very late. I asked for it long ago. If he had asked it that time, then this day could have been avoided,” said Khurshid.(With PTI inputs)
