Modi gets a surprise: Sunanda Pushkar says, Article 370 is discriminatory

New Delhi: Sunanda Pushkar, the wife of Union Minister of state for HRD Shashi Tharoor today indirectly backed BJP leader Narendra Modi on the issue of removing Article 370 that provides Jammu and Kashmir a


She explained the difficulties which she had experienced when she wanted to buy a property in the Kashmir valley in 2006-07.

Sunanda revealed, she was denied permission to buy land as she is married to a non-Kashmiri.

She even disclosed how chief minister Omar Abdullah had tried to help her out but had alerted her that her son might not able to inherit the land.

Narendra Modi in his speech at a rally in Jammu had raised the question of discrimination against women in Jammu when he pointed out that Omar could remain a Kashmiri citizen despire marrying a non-Kashmiri, but his sister Sarah cannot retain the rights of a Kashmiri since she has married a non-Kashmiri (Sachin Pilot).

It may be recalled it was Modi who had remarked about Sunanda Pushkar's affair with Shashi Tharoor several years ago by saying:  "Wah kya girlfriend hai. Apne kabhi dekha hai 50 crore ka girlfriend (What a girlfriend. Have you ever seen a 50-crore-girl friend)?"
