New Delhi, Dec 12: The Bharatiya Janata Party Wednesday said it was "unfortunate" that Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati Wednesday verbally attacked Rajya Sabha Chairman M. Hamid Ansari, accusing him of not being able to ensure smooth proceedings in the house.
"It is unfortunate," BJP spokesperson Sayed Shahnawaz Hussain said, reacting to the incident, and held the Congress-led government responsible for it.
"It is because of the government's behaviour that they are behaving in such manner," Hussain said.
BSP chief Mayawati created a stir in the house during question hour Wednesday when she virtually accused Chairman Hamid Ansari of not ensuring the smooth conduct of proceedings during zero hour.
She said there was need to ensure smooth conduct of proceedings even after 12 p.m., when the chairman usually leaves, allowing the deputy chairman to conduct proceedings.
"You go at 12... house should run. To ensure this is your responsibility. When it will be 12, you will not be seen," she said.
