Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and BSP supremo Mayawati on Tuesday asked party MPs to attack the Centre on issues of price rise and Maoist problem during the coming monsoon session of Parliament.
"Party MPs should strongly oppose wrong economic policies of the UPA government, which is resulting in price rise, and raise issues relating to the people during monsoon session," Mayawati said while addressing a joint meeting of the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha members in Lucknow. She also asked the party MPs to maintain discipline and dignity.
Mayawati said that by deregulating petrol prices and hiking prices of petroleum products, UPA government has "indulged in an anti-people act".
"The UPA government is playing in the hands of a few capitalists. The UPA government's decision has proved that it had nothing to do with the common people and it is entirely with the capitalists", she alleged. "UPA government's attitude towards BSP government in UP is step-motherly and unjust and it is hampering the development of the state", she charged.
Mayawati said "wrong internal security, economic and foreign policies of the Centre should be exposed by effectively raising the issues of Naxalism, justice to Bhopal gas tragedy victims and ineffective foreign policies".
She said the Centre's policy to tackle Naxalism was not up to the mark. While the government is taking Naxalism as a law and order problem, there is a need to chalk out a concrete strategy for development work as per the basic needs of Naxal- hit areas, Mayawati said. The BSP supermo said it was unfortunate that "proper justice" has not been given to Bhopal gas tragedy victims. PTI
