New Delhi: Union Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar is slated to file his nomination paper for Rajya Sabha from Uttar Pradesh today.
Parrikar, who was on Sunday inducted into the Council of Ministers, arrived Lucknow yesterday evening.
"I can confirm that I am going Lucknow in the next 15 minutes," Parrikar told reporters outside the Goa Sadan in New Delhi on late Sunday evening.
Parrikar, who had on Saturday stepped down as the Chief Minister of Goa paving way for his elevation, has been given the Defence portfolio in Narendra Modi's Cabinet.
From a RSS pracharak to a Union Minister,technocrat-turned politician Parrikar, a three-time Goa Chief Minister, is known for his administrative acumen and clean image.
The term of office of 11 members of the Rajya Sabha from the Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand is expiring on November 25. The biennial elections for the same will be held on November 20.
