Patna: As the tension across Janata Dal-United (JD-U) deepens, Bihar Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi will be leaving for Delhi on February 7 to participate in the meeting of Niti Ayog. The meeting has been scheduled for Sunday, which also happens to be the day JD(U) Legislature Party will be holding a crucial meeting, of which Manjhi will not be a part.
Principal Secretary of the Chief Minister Amrit Lal Meena today said that as per the programme Manjhi is leaving for Delhi tomorrow to take part in the meeting of Niti Ayog that would be presided over by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Though there was no official confirmation but it is believed that Manjhi could have a separate meeting with the Prime Minister.
The CM's programme to leave for Delhi tomorrow afternoon makes it clear that he would not participate in the crucial JD(U) Legislature Party meeting called by party president Sharad Yadav at 4 pm tomorrow.
Manjhi, under attack from pro-Nitish camp within the party, has already described tomorrow's meeting as “unauthorised” and instead has called a meeting of JD(U) Legislature Party at his residence on February 20 in his capacity of being the leader of the House.
Amid hectic parleys and meetings among leaders of both Nitish and Manjhi camps, the CM as per his scheduled programme has gone to Jamui today at a college function. From there he would go to Khagaria to inaugurate sadar hospital, CM Office said.
Manjhi would then attend a Mahadalit Sammelan and lay the foundation stone of Additional Primary Health Unit, Satar Kataiya, Patarghat-Satar Kataiya in Saharsa. He would be returning to Patna in the evening.
