Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today alleged that TMC leader in the Lok Sabha Sudip Bandyopadhyay has been receiving threat messages since last evening.
Banerjee claimed that the messages were sent due to TMC's protest over various issues, including 'intolerance', both inside and outside Parliament.
"Sudip Bandyopadhyay today called me up and said he has been receiving SMSes on one of his mobile numbers threatening that if he speaks so much, he will be killed.
"This is simply unacceptable that an MP who is also the leader of our party in the Lok Sabha is being threatened over telephone that he will be killed only because he has been vocal on various issues, including intolerance. In my entire political career, I have never seen such incidents. This is shameful," Banerjee said.
"I have never seen such a level of intolerance. We want the truth to come out. I have also asked him (the MP) to raise the issue in Parliament," she said. Bandyopadhyay was unreachable for comments.
