Pune: Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Ajit Pawar hasmade it clear that there is no guarantee that his party NCP will support Devendra Fadnavis for full 5 years and that the party may rethink the issue of extending ‘unconditional' outside support to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in Maharashtra.

Ajit Pawar also expressed his displeasure over the way Fadnavis govt won the trust vote in the assembly.

“The confidence motion drew people attention from all over the country. Government should have shown the support of exact number of MLAs inside the state Assembly. The government even failed to submit letter to the Governor claiming support of 145 MLAs. We will think over it again at the time of expressing confidence in BJP government,” he said here yesterday after reviewing Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC)'s projects which are pending with the Centre as well as state government.

The NCP on November 12 extended outside support to the BJP government inside the state Assembly at the time of confidence motion. The NCP has 41 MLAs in 288-member House.

He also challenged the government to conduct enquiry in allegations against him and trashed the possibilities of NCP joining Fadnavis Cabinet.

Ajit further said that the Congress and Shiv Sena have set an example by withdrawing its candidates from the race of Speaker's post.

He, however, supported Prime Minister Narendra Modi's ambitious ‘Swachha Bharat Abhiyaan' saying his party will always be positive towards such ventures.
