Maharashtra Chief Minister Ashok Chavan and his family members offered worship at the famous Sree Krishna temple in Guruvayur, Kerala on Saturday. After offering prayers, Chavan made a symbolic gift of an elephant to the presiding deity, Lord Guruvayurappan.
It has for long been a practice for devotees to donate elephants to the temple. These days, the offering can be done by symbolically by remitting the amount for an elephant calf to the temple coffers. Chavan was accompanied by wife Amitha and other family members.
They were received on arrival at the temple town by the Chairman of Guruvayur Devaswom, Thottathil Raveendran and senior temple officials. PTI
