New Delhi: The 9 phase Lok Sabha elections begins from India's northeastern states of Assam and Tripura today and it's time to take a look at the main candidates whose fate will be decided in today's poll:1.Gourav GogoiAssam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi's son Gourav Gogoi will be contesting from Kaliabor LS Seat. Arun Kumar Sarma (AGP), Mrinal Saikia (BJP) and former ULFA leader Jiten Gogoi will be challenging Gourav Gogoi from this seat.2.Paban Singh GhatowarUnion minister Paban Singh Ghatowar will be contesting from Dibrugarh Seat on Congress ticket. He is being challenged by Rameswar Teli of BJP and Sonowal of BJP.3.Ranee NarahUnion minister Ranee Narah will be contesting from Lakhimpur seat on Congress ticket. She is being challenged by Assam BJP President Sarbananda Sonowal and former ULFA militant Hari Prasad Dihingia who is contesting on AGP ticket.4.Bijoy Krishna Handique Former minister Bijoy Krishna Handique of Congress will be contesting from this seat for his 7th term since 1991. He is being challenged by Kamakhya Prasad Tasa of BJP,Manoram Gogoi of AAP and Ribuloya Gogoi of TMC who is the only woman candidate for the seat.5.Joseph ToppoThe sitting AGP MP will be contesting again from his traditional Tezpur seat. He is being challenged by Bhupen Kumar Borah of and controversial former Congress MP Moni Kumar Subba who is contesting this time as an independent.6.Shankar Prasad DuttaFormer legislator and state secretary of CITU Shankar Prasad Dutta is the CPM candidate from West Tripura LS constituency. He has replaced the sitting CPM MP Khagan Das who has bowed out because of his falling health. He is being challenged by Arunodaya Saha of Congress, rattan Chakraborty of TMC and S C Dasgupta of BJP.
