Patna, Jul 29: BJP leader Ravi Shanker Prasad on Saturday said that UPA government only had two years in hand and Rahul Gandhi should become the prime minister for the country to assess his abilities.
“Time is ripe. Let Rahul Gandhi become the prime minister in the remaining two years that the UPA has left so that the country will be able assess his abilities,” Prasad, the deputy opposition leader in the Rajya Sabha told reporters here.
Prasad said the abilities of Rahul Gandhi has been watched by countrymen following the campaign he spearheaded in Bihar, Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh which proved to be ‘devastating' for the Congress.
Commenting on Shahid Siddiqui's interview of Narendra Modi , Prasad said Shahid Siddiqui was a journalist and had taken an interview of Narendra Modi as a mediaperson.
“Siddiqui as a journalist had taken an interview of Modi as a journalist and (I am) not aware of the kind of relation Siddiqui did have with Samajwadi Party or its leader Mulayam Singh Yadav,” Prasad told reporters here.
“It is matter (any relation) which can be disclosed only by SP or Mulayam Singh Yadav,” he said in reply to a question.
“What I can only add is that the press enjoys the freedom in the country,” Prasad added.
