New Delhi: Lalu Prasad, the former union minister has finally vacated the government's Lutyens Bungalow located at 25, Tughlak road. Lalu vacated the Bungalow after the allotment of over 12 years. At present, the same Bungalow has been allotted to Lok Sabha party Deputy Speaker M Thambu Durai.
This type-VIII bungalow was allotted to Lalu Yadav in the month of July, 2002 when he was a member of Rajya Sabha after it was transferred to RS pool.
Later, in May 2004, it was regularized when he became the Union minister. The allocation was cancelled in November following his conviction in a fodder scam case.
In February 2013, Cabinet Committee on Accommodation allowed Yadav to hold the bungalow for a year from the date of cancellation till October, 2014.
As Yadav didn't vacate the Bungalow even after the expiry of the extended period, the litigation department took necessary steps to make him vacate the Government's property. When the eviction order was passed by the concerned quasi-judicial authority in November, Yadav had no other option than to vacate it.
