New Delhi: In a significant development, Lt. Governer Najeeb Jung has recommended dissolution of the Delhi Assembly and holding of fresh elections in the state.

In a report submitted to President Mukherjee, Jung is reported to have stated that he was left with no other choice than to recommend dissolution of the assembly as BJP, Congress and AAP have expressed their inability to form government.

Yesterday, Jung met leaders of all three political parties who told him that fresh balloting was needed as no party was in a position to form the government in the 70-member assembly.

The President is now expected to send recommendations to dissolve Delhi Assembly to Union Cabinet. A Cabinet meeting will be called to take a final decision in this regard.

Sources said that Jung will also send the same report the Ministry of Home Affairs.

The LG held consultations with the all three major political parties yesterday after the Supreme Court gave him time till November 11 to explore the possibility of forming a government.

The Delhi government has been under President's rule, since 14th February when former CM, Arvind Kejriwal of the Aam Admi Party resigned after failing to pass a Jan Lokpal Bill.
