New Delhi, Nov 2: Sunanda Pushkar, wife of union minister Shashi Tharoor, has been found dead in a posh hotel of South Delhi under mysterious circumstances.Sunanda used to be in news all the time, sometimes for wrong reasons as well.A few days back she complained that a Pakistani journalist Mehr Tarara was stalking her husband Shashi tharoor and the controversy finally took an unexpected turn with the news of her death,Sometime back she was in news when Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi referred to her as ‘Rs. 50 Crore girlfriend'. Actually, Modi was questioning the induction of Shashi Tharoor, Sunanda's husband, in the union council of ministers. Modi ridiculed Tharoor for having claimed in parliament that he had nothing to do with Sunanda Pushkar but he married Sunanda within months of making that statement.Modi's statement created furor across India and Tharoor responded by saying that his wife is ‘priceless' to him and that Modi can't understand that as he has never loved anyone. First time, she caught lime limelight when Shashi Tharoor had to resign because of her connections with Kochi IPL franchise. At that time, Shashi Tharoor and Sunanda Pushkar were dating and she was offered 18% sweat equity, alleged to be worth Rs 70 Crore, in Rendezvous Sports World, a part of consortium that won Kochi franchise.It was alleged that Rendezvous offered this sweat equity to Sunanda for her efforts in helping them get the franchise through her connections with Shashi tharoor.When the matter was raised in parliament, Shashi Tharoor had denied all allegations and had said that he had nothing to do with Sunanda Pushkar et al. But Shashi Tharoor's explanation could not convince his own party and he was asked to resign. Even Sunanda Pushkar had to relinquish her stake in Rendezvous Sports World.She caught attention of the media second time when she tied the knot with Shashi Tharoor. It was third marriage for both Sunada Pushkar and Shashi Tharoor. She was first married to Sanjay Raina, a Kashmiri. After divorcing Sanjay Raina, she married Sujith Menon, a business man from Kerala. She has a 19-year old son from her second marriage. His son's name is Shiv Menon. Sujit Menon died in an accident. Shashi Tharoor is his third husband. Even for shashi tharoor, it's third marriage. His first wife was Tilottama Mukherji. After divorcing Tilottama, he married Christa Giles. He divorced Christa Giles before marrying Sunanda Pushkar.Sunanda belongs to Sopore, Kashmir and comes from a family of Army officers. Her father P.N.Dass is a retired army man. Sunanda comes from a family of Kashmiri Brahmins. When militants attacked and destroyed her house in 1990, her family shifted to Jammu. She has two brothers, one of whom works for a bank; the other is in the Army.Sunanda is known as a beautician and is said to be running a spa in Dubai. Sunanda, however, claims to be a business woman belonging to real estate sector. In fact, at one point of time, she was a sales director in a Dubai-based real estate company Tecom.
