New Delhi: Two days before her anointment as BJP's CM candidate for Delhi polls, Kiran Bedi had texted her husband that she didn't want to join politics and she was not meant for it, said her husband Brij Bedi.

“Two days before Kiran was made the chief ministerial candidate of the BJP, she had texted me that she is against joining politics and that she is not meant for it. Next day, she texted me that she doesn't know what is written in her destiny and where it will take her. A day later, the BJP declared her its face for the Delhi polls,” Brij said in an interview to a leading Hindi Daily.

When asked about the outcomes if she stormed to power on February 10, he said, “She has taken this decision wisely... This will be the beginning of good governance. I believe monitoring of a government is very necessary. She is an experience lady and knows about administrative functions.”

“She is continuously working from last 40 years... serving the society in different forms. She is a social activist and it was evident that she should join a political party to continue delivering her services towards the society,” he replied when asked about opposition parties accusing Kiran of being an opportunistic.

He further regretted that he couldn't join Kiran in her campaigns due to some prior engagements.

Brij, who was earlier a hardcore supporter of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), said that the Kejriwal-led party has lost its way and trying to divert others from core issues.

Kiran was married to Brij Bedi in 1972.
