Khattar, who became the first non-Jat Chief Minister in Haryana after 18 years in 2014, has appealed to the people to maintain law and order in the state.

"No one will be benefited by damaging public property. I urge everyone not to be swayed by unfounded rumours and maintain peace in the state," he said in his appeal earlier.  Notably, Khattar's native village Nindana falls in Rohtak district.

The Jats have been agitating to press for reservation under OBC quota.
