At a glance: Key constituencies and leaders in Delhi assembly elections

New Delhi: December 4 is going to be the D-Day for Delhi politicians including Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, BJP's CM candidate Harsh Vardhan and AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal who is also his party's CM candidate. The Election Commission has completed all preparations and voting will begin at 8am sharp Wednesday. Delhi witnessed election rallies by national leaders of major political parties like ruling Congress and the principal opposition party BJP. BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, Congress president Sonia Gandhi and Congress VP Rahul Gandhi held a number of rallies in the state capital. While rallies of Modi and Sonia attracted large crowds, Rahul's rallies got lukewarm response in some areas. What impact these rallies of national leaders had on Delhi electorate will be known on December 8 only, the counting day. Let's have a look at the key constituencies and leaders on which all eyes are focused: 1. New Delhi constituency [Sheila Dikshit (Cong) Vs Arvind kejriwal (AAP) Vs Vijendra Gupta (BJP)] Earlier, this constituency was known as ‘Gol Market' constituency. Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit has been representing this constituency for last three terms. She is seeking the mandate for fourth consecutive term. This time she is being challenged by none other than Aam Aadmi Party supremo Arvind Kejriwal himself. The entry of Arvind Kejriwal in this fray has made this constituency cynosure of state assembly elections. Another heavyweight challenging Sheila Dikshit from this constituency is Vijendra Gupta, former Delhi state BJP president. 2. Krishna Nagar constituency [Harsh Vardhan (BJP) Vs Vinod Monga (Congress) Vs Ishrat Ali Ansari (AAP) This is also a high-profile constituency as BJP's chief ministerial candidate Harsh Vardhan is contesting from this seat and he is being challenged by Vinod Monga of Congress and Ishrat Ali Ansari of AAP. 3. Mehrauli constituency [Jat Vs Jat fight] This constituency is witnessing a direct fight between Jat candidates. Present Delhi Assembly speaker Dr Yoganand Shastri of Congress is contesting from this seat and he is being challenged by Pravesh Verma of BJP and Narendra Singh Sejwal of AAP. Dr Shastri has won this seat for three consecutive terms and he is seeking madate for the fourth term. Pravesh Verma, on the other hand, is the son of former BJP Chief Minister late Sahib Singh Verma. Narendra Singh is a renowned social activist and is better known for his support to Kashmiri immigrants. 4. Greater Kailash constituency From this constituency, Ajay Malhotra, the son of Vijay Kumar Malhotra is in direct fight with Virendra Kasana of Congress and Saurabh Bhardwaj of AAP. 5. Sangam Vihar constituency (South Delhi)From this constituency, Jagpravesh Kumar, son of veteran Congress leader Sajjan Kumar is contesting on Congress ticket against Dr SCL Gupta of BJP and Dinesh Mohania of AAP. 6. Palam constituency (South Delhi) It has become a VIP seat after Vinay Mishra, the son of West Delhi MP Mahabal Mishra joined the fray on a Congress ticket. He is in direct fight with Dharmdev Solanki of BJP and Bhavna Gaud of AAP. 7. Janakpuri constituency (West Delhi) Jagdish Mukhi, veteran BJP lerader and the former finance minister of Delhi, has won this seat 4 times. This time the Congress has given ticket to Ragini Nayak, the glamorous and younfg Congress laeder who is also a former president of DUSU. 8. Tilak nagar West constituency From this constituency, Congress has given ticket to another former president of DUSU Amrita Dhawan.Amrita Dhawan is presently the ward commissioner from Vikaspuri (East). The BJP has given ticket to Rajiv Babbar, the 45 year old son of sitting MLA O P Babbar. 32 year old Jarnail Singh of AAP is trying his best to make it a triangular fight. 9. Patparganj constituency This seat has become a VIP seat as Manish Sisodia, a close aide of Arvind Kejriwal, is contesting on AAP ticket. He is being challenged by BJP candidate Nakul Bhardwaj who is presently the president of BJP's Delhi state youth wing. Anil Kumar of Congress is also in the fray from this seat. 10. Lakshminagar constituency (East Delhi) This is also one of the important seats as Dr A K Walia, presently the health minister of Delhi, has won this seat 4 times in a row. He is being challenged by Abhay Verma of BJP who is a senior lawyer. Vinod Kumar Bini of AAP is also in the fray from this seat. 11. Ballimaran constituency Haroon Yousuf, the high-profile power minister of Sheila Dikshit government, represents this constituency and has won this seat 4 times in a row. He is in direct fight with Motilasl Sodhi of BJP and Farhana Anzum of AAP. 12. Malwiya Nagar constituency Kiran Walia, the Education Minister of Sheila Dikshit government, is contesting from this seat and she is being challenged by Aarti Mehra of BJP and Somnath Bharati of AAP 13. Gandhi Nagar constituency (East Delhi) Delhi's urban development minister Arvinder Singh Lovely is contesting from this seat. He has won from this seat three times in a row. He is being challenged this time by R C Jain of BJP and Anil Kumar Vajpayee of AAP. 14. Rajendra Nagar constituency Delhi's Transport minister Ramakant Goswami is contesting from this seat and he is being challenged by R P Singh of BJP and Vijendra Garg of AAP. 15. Mangolpuri constituency Delhi's PWD minister Rajkumar Chauhan has won this seat 4 times in a row. This time he is being challenged by Ramkishore Narwaria of BJP and Rakhi Birla of AAP..
