New Delhi: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed today asserted that the people of Kashmir had rejected Muhammad Ali Jinnah's two-nation theory long ago. He further said that Kashmiris have chosen a different path and are very much part of India.
Sayeed was sharing his views on the topic “Kashmiriyat, Jhamuriyat and Insaniyat” while participating in the ongoing India Ideas Conclave 2015 being held at Panaji, Goa.
Sayeed, however, agreed that certain fringe elements are trying to radicalize Kashmiri society.
“Kashmiris want to live peacefully with India but there are fringe elements in Kashmir which are responsible for radicalization of society and J&K Government is trying to contain them,” Sayeed said.
The Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister also reiterated his government's commitment for safe and secure settlement of Kashmiri Pandits.
India Ideas Conclave 2015 was inaugurated on Sunday by Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev in the presence of the chief guest Lyonchhen Tshering Tobgay, the Prime Minister of Bhutan.
Union Minister of Defence Manohar Parrikar, Union Minister of Railways Suresh Prabhu, Union Minister of State for Finance Jayant Sinha and Goa Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar were also present on this occasion.
The theme of the 3-day conclave is “Learnings from civilisations”.
