His father Madhavrao Scindia was a renowned Congress leader. His grandmother Vijaya raje Scindia was a founder-member of BJP.Scindia Jr is the grandson of George Jivajirao Scindia, the last princely ruler of Gwalior State belonging to the Scindia dynasty of the Marathas.After completing his studies at Campion School, Mumbai and The Doon School, Dehradun, Jyotiraditya Scindia did his graduation in Economics from Harvard University in 1993. In 2001, he received MBA degree from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.Before joining politics, Scindia worked at Merrill Lynch and Morgan Stanley.In 2002, Jyotiraditya Scindia entered parliament for the first time after winning Guna Lok Sabha seat. This seat was represented by his father when he was alive. He was re-elected in May 2004 and again in 2009 from the same constituency.Presently, he is union Minister of State (Independent Charge) of the Ministry of Power.Jyotiraditya Scindia is married to Priyadarshini who belongs to Gaekwad royal family of Baroda. The couple has a son and a daughter.
