JP Agarwal wins primary, to be Congress candidate from NE Delhi

New Delhi: Congress MP Jai Prakash Agarwal won the elections for candidature from the Northeast Delhi Lok Sabha seat under primaries project, piloted by Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi. After getting 252 out of 305 votes,

New Delhi: Congress MP Jai Prakash Agarwal won the elections for candidature from the Northeast Delhi Lok Sabha seat under primaries project, piloted by Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi.

After getting 252 out of 305 votes, Agarwal is set to become the candidate from Northeast Delhi constituency, from where he is currently a Member of Parliament.

Former Patel Nagar MLA and Congress leader Rajesh Lalotia also contested the elections under this project and received only 47 votes. During polling, 6 voting were held invalid.

Ajay Maken has already nominated as candidate from the New Delhi Lok Sabha seat under the primaries project.

However, formal announcement is yet to be made by the Central Election Committee of the party in this regard.

Sources said that party's central election committee will hold a meeting to discuss the candidates' names for Delhi's seven Lok Sabha seat.
