Ranchi, Jan 6: The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) met here Sunday to decide whether or not to keep supporting the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led government in the state.

The two-day meeting of legislators and other party leaders of the JMM will end Monday.

This follows BJP Chief Minister Arjun Munda's announcement that there was no question of handing over his office to the JMM Jan 10 when the BJP-JMM alliance in the state completes 28 months.

The JMM meeting took place at the residence of party chief Shibu Soren. The party executive committee will meet Monday.

“The meeting will ... discuss whether to continue support to (the government) or walk away,” a JMM source told IANS.

The JMM has five ministers in the BJP-led cabinet, including Deputy Chief Minister Hemant Soren.

“There are two points of view in the party,” the source said. “One section wants to continue supporting the government while the second group wants an immediate withdrawal of support.”

The coalition government was formed in September 2010. The JMM wants the chief minister's post to be shared between the two parties.

Both the BJP and JMM have 18 legislators each in the 82-member assembly. If the JMM walks out, the Munda government will be reduced to a minority.
