Ranchi: The opposition parties in Jharkhand have questioned the state government's move to withdraw a case against central minister Giriraj Singh for his remarks during the Lok Sabha 2014 election.

"The state government is interfering in legal process. This is a second case when the BJP government led by Raghubar Das is trying to withdraw criminal case. We will hit the roads and bring the issue to the notice of the governor and the president of India," Alok Dubey, general secretary of the Congress' state unit told IANS.

According to reports, the state government has initiated the process to withdraw a case filed against Singh in Bokaro district.

In April 2014, Singh, while addressing an election rally in Bokaro district, said: "Those who want to stop Narendra Modi should go to Pakistan."

The Jharkhand government has also initiated the process to withdraw cases against BJP legislator Dhullu Mahto.

"This is a mockery of the legal and democratic system of the country," Dubey added.

CPI-ML legislator Raj Kumar Yadav said: "This is a very unfortunate move of the BJP government. There are hundreds of innocent people languishing in jail and state government hardly cares for them. It should stop making mockery of the legal system"
