4. Jawaharlal Nehru was the patriarch of the Nehru-Gandhi family. This family is often referred to as the First Family of Indian politics.
Over the years, the term Nehru-Gandhi dynasty has been more frequently used, as three members of this family have become Prime Ministers. After Nehru's death, the baton was handed over to his only daughter Indira Gandhi.
She went on to be India's third Prime Minister. Following her death, her son Rajiv Gandhi took charge. After Rajeev's assassination, his wife Sonia Gandhi has been chosen the President of the Congress Party. Rahul Gandhi, Nehru's great grandson is Congress Vice President.
