New Delhi: Delhi Jal Board vice-chairman Kapil Mishra was named as new Law Minister of Delhi today.
Mishra is an AAP MLA from Delhi's Karawal Nagar constituency.
He has worked with eminent organizations like Amnesty International, Retailers Association of India, Greenpeace. He was placed in the crucial Jal Board to help realise the Aam Aadmi Party's election promise of providing cheap water to Delhiites.
Mishra will also be taking additional charge of the tourism portfolio.
Mishra's appointment came after Jitender Singh Tomar resigned as Law Minister yesterday night following his arrest in the forged degree case.
The 49-year old MLA has been charged under sections of the Indian Penal Code relating to cheating and criminal conspiracy. He was remanded in police custody for four days by a Delhi court.
