New Delhi: The BJP said Sunday that its impending electoral victories in Maharashtra and Haryana showed people were enamoured of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
"The results show people have faith in Modi's leadership," BJP spokesman Shahnawaz Hussain told the media here. "Just as people voted for him in the centre, they are looking for him in states too."
Hussain added that the Bharatiya Janata Party was confident of taking power in both Maharashtra and Haryana -- for the first time.
Counting of votes for the 90 seats in Haryana began Sunday morning to decide the fate of 1,351 candidates, including 116 women.
A record 76.54 percent of Haryana's 1.63 crore electorate voted in the assembly polls this time.
