Jammu, Jun 24: Terming the report of Centre's interlocuters on Jammu and Kashmir as “pro-separatist”, senior BJP leader and former Union Minister Murli Manohar Joshi on Saturday said it would not solve any problems plaguing the state.
The report would only make the status of Jammu and Kashmir controversial, he told reporters here. “In may view, the report will not solve any issue. It will only make the status of Jammu and Kashmir controversial,” the former HRD Minister said.
“The report is dangerous and pro-separatists,” he said. “Any consideration of the report will be catastrophic for national unity and unity of the state,” the BJP leader said.
“The document discourages nationalist forces. The tone and tenor of the report favour separatists,” he said.
Joshi was here to commemorate the death anniversary of Shyama Prasad Mookerjee, the founder of erstwhile Bharatiya Jana Sangh.
On the country's economic situation, Joshi said it is not healthy and is “worsening day by day”. The Congress-led UPA government has “completely failed in curbing inflation, corruption and unemployment”, he said.
“If the UPA agrees, the BJP is ready to sit with it and suggest ideas on improving the country's economy,” Joshi said. Slamming the UPA government, the BJP leader said “it is not taking the threat posed by China seriously.”
“China is enagaged in the encirclement of India. It has established its network in Pakistani, Sri Lankan waters and Bhutan. We are facing a threat from China,” Joshi said.
“The government is not taking the threat seriously,” he said.
