Kolkata: The covert supply of liquor to a Trinamool minister who is currently in jail for his links with Saradha scam has become the latest political weapon for Left parties to target the ruling West Bengal Government.
According to reports available, about a month ago, Transport Minister Madan Mitra who is languishing in Alipore Correctional Home, complained of uneasiness but refused to visit hospital. A doctor was finally called and after diagnosis it was found that Mitra was alright but inebriated.
It was revealed after investigations that Mitra's home supplied water bottles were spiked with alcohol. Now his home sent foods and drinks are randomly checked.
The incident has given enough fodder to the opposition for lampooning the ruling party.
"What kind of leaders are these Trinamool leaders? They have even turned the jail into a bar. The people are watching everything." said Bimal Bose, CPM Politburo member and Left Front leader
