Hyderabad: Member of Parliament from Guntur, R. Sambasiva Rao, who was expelled from the Congress last month, Monday joined the Telugu Desam Party (TDP).
R. Srinivas Rao, who quit the Congress to protest the expulsion of his brother, also joined the TDP in the presence of party chief and former chief minister N. Chandrababu Naidu here.
Sambasiva Rao told reporters that the development of Seemandhra was possible only under the rule of TDP.
He was one of the six MPs from Seemandhra who were expelled by the Congress last month for stalling the Telangana bill in Lok Sabha. Four of the MPs have joined Jai Samaikyandhra party floated by former chief minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy.
Angry over bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh, many Congress leaders have joined TDP during the last one month. They include MPs, former central and state ministers and state legislators.
