New Delhi: The Union Home Ministry has clarified that there are no plans under consideration to hold an enquiry into fresh disclosures made with regard to Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose.

Disclosure of files by the West Bengal government had recently revealed that intelligence agencies were keeping a close watch on the family of Netaji after independence.

In a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha,  Minister of State for Home Affairs Haribhai Parthibhai Chaudhary said that there were no such plans under consideration.

The Home Ministry, however, said that it is examining the files in its custody related to Netaji for the purpose of declassifying them. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had said in October that the process of declassification of Netaji files would begin on January 23, 2016.

“Process of declassification of files relating to Netaji will begin on 23rd January 2016, Subhas Babu's birth anniversary," Modi had tweeted after an hour-long interaction with the family members earlier this year.

Modi had said he will also urge foreign governments to declassify files on Netaji available with them by writing to them and personally taking up with foreign leaders during meetings, beginning with Russia.
