Vijaywada: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and TDP supremo N Chandrababu Naidu yesterday said his party was supporting the NDA government at the Centre in the interest of the people and for the overall development of the state.
Talking to reporters after a day-long meeting of his Cabinet here today, Naidu said, "YSR Congress chief Jaganmohan Reddy's demand that TDP should withdraw support to NDA government is only for his own political and personal gains."
"TDP is supporting the NDA only for the benefit of the people and not for any personal benefits. Jagan is waiting for an opportunity to join hands with the NDA to withdraw cases against him if I withdraw the support from NDA. It is foolish to withdraw support," Naidu said.
He said the Centre has been allocating funds to the state for various development projects, particularly the Polavaram irrigation project, and for the construction of the new state capital.
"The Centre sanctioned 12 central institutions like AIIMS, IIT, IIM, and also some industries like BHEL, DRDO missile projects in view of the state's development," the chief minister said, adding that if TDP withdraws its support, all such projects may face problems.
"Ultimately people have to decide what they need," he added.
