Panaji: Making Narendra Modi prime minister would make the BJP's elected members of parliament irrelevant and impotent, the NCP said Thursday.
Speaking to reporters here, vice president of the Nationalist Congress Party in Goa Trajano D'Mello said imposition of a prime minister on MPs was the worst form of dictatorship in a democracy.
"If Modi is foisted on the elected members of parliament of the BJP it makes them both impotent and irrelevant," D'Mello said.
According to parliamentary convention MPs of the ruling party formally elect the leader of the House. "Foisting of a leader on MPs is an insult to democracy. It is nothing short of dictatorship," he said.
