Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh governor Ram Naresh Yadav has been named in an FIR filed by Special Task Force (STF) in the MP professional examination board case also known as Vyapam scam.

Last week, Yadav's son Shailesh had also been made a co-accused by STF and was served a notice. Following that, Congress had demanded the resignation of the governor who himself was a Congress leader before being appointed as MP Governor.

The scam that has shaken the MP government has involvement of several high profile people and is being probed by Special investigation Team (SIT) under the watch of High Court. The scam involves manipulation in the selection process for government jobs conducted by MPPEB.

STF, which is working under the direction of SIT had lodged two FIRs on December 19 against former State Technical Education Minister Laxmikant Sharma and 129 others in connection with alleged irregularities in the examination for the recruitment of Grade II and III Contractual Teachers.

Up until now, 539 people have been arrested and 218 are absconding in the Vyapam scam, the government has told the High Court.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan is also under fire from opposition Congress that has alleged that the CM himself was involved in the scam. Congress leader Digvijay Singh recently alleged manipulation in evidence by STF to protect Chouhan who has refused the accusation and said he would not step down from the CM's post as opposition is demanding.
