EC sends show cause notice to Rahul Gandhi for poll conduct violation

New Delhi: The Election Commission, waking up from it slumber eight days after Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi made his controversial speech, on Friday night issued a show cause notice to the Gandhi scion for


"Terrorism happens because anger is instilled. Anger is the root cause of terrorist activites.  India will not progress with anger and hatred but with unity.  Why do people fight? They are made to fight for somebody else's gain."

BJP in its memorandum to the EC had objected to Rahul Gandhi's remarks and had demanded that action be taken against him for his inflammatory remarks.

Under the model code of conduct, parties, candidates and leaders are barred from making remarks which may cause disharmony among communities and castes.
