New Delhi: Communicating through signs and gestures due to a sore throat, BJP's chief ministerial candidate Kiran Bedi today held multiple roadshows even as she visited Raj Ghat to pay homage to Mahatma Gandhi. While campaiging in Chhatarpur constituency, Bedi looked visibly distracted by her phone, with party workers having to ask her to look towards people.
Before Chhatarpur, Bedi managed to pull in a large female crowd at Madangiri's central market in Ambedkar Nagar, known to be a AAP stronghold.
“Kiran Bedi has been a very honest officer. If she comes, she will ensure security for women. But people still remember the 49 day government of AAP. They did manage to bring corruption under control,” said Rajesh, an auto driver from Madangiri.
As her cavalcade moved through the market, some residents targeted her for switching sides to BJP while some were not happy with the money involved behind such roadshows. Bedi also shared her ‘Vision for Delhi' on social media, with the latest being a 20-point plan for Housing, Civic Infrastructure and Transportation with the hashtag #Kiransblueprint.
Including the Prime Minister's vision of ‘Jaha Jhuggi Wahi Makaan', Bedi tweeted plans for housing JJ Colony dwellers in pukka houses.“Pukka housing for jhuggie dwellers - under the Jan Punarvas Yojana; multi-level housing for people residing in jhuggies,” she tweeted.
She also tweeted about increasing the force of DTC buses in both rural and industrial areas.Nursing a sore throat, Bedi has been on a ‘voice rest' for over two days now, disappointing people who gather in large numbers hoping to listen to her plans for the area. Earlier in the day, Bedi held roadshows in south Delhi's Jangpura constituency where she was accompanied by M S Dhir and later in Okhla constituency where her roadshow went through Taimur and Khirzabad villages along with JJ colonies in Madanpur Khadar.
She was accompanied by Okhla candidate Brahm Singh and made promises of development, cleanliness and security of women.
