New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal today termed the party's stunning performance in Delhi Assembly polls as ‘victory of truth'.

Kejriwal, in his victory speech, also thanked the people of Delhi for rising above the political fights to choose the Aam Aadmi Party.

“People of Delhi have achieved something spectacular; I salute them; it is a victory of truth,” he said.

He asked the party workers to remain on ground zero and work for the welfare of poor otherwise it will be routed after five years.

“It is very scary... the kind of support people of Delhi have given us. Don't be arrogant otherwise people of Delhi will also punish the party after 5 years if it becomes arrogant,” he said.

AAP's also the chief ministerial candidate, Kejriwal, once again vowed to transform the city which both poor and rich will feel proud of.

“With the help of people, we will make Delhi a city for which both poor and rich will feel proud of,” he added.

Thanking his wife, who was standing next to him on the terrace of three-storeyed party office, Kejriwal said the victory would not have been possible without her constant support and understanding.

"She never comes in the picture but she is always there. It would not have been possible for me to achieve anything if she was not there," he said. The AAP chief also thanked his parents for supporting him.

Ashutosh, standing besides Kejriwal, said the mandate was the beginning of a new kind of revolutionary politics in the country.

Kejriwal-led AAP is on course to scripting history as the party was headed towards a landslide victory with a lead over 60 seats.

Elections to elect new 70-member Delhi Assembly was held on February 7 with voter turnout of 67.08 per cent.
