New Delhi: Upset over the denial of ticket for the upcoming assembly polls in Delhi, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Dhir Singh Bidhuri on Monday announced his resignation from the saffron outfit.

Shortly after tendering his resignation, he said, “No issues with the party. Have put in my papers.”

Reports said that Dhir wanted to contest from the Okhala assembly seat but the party high command offered the ticket to former BSP leader Chaudhary Brahm Singh, who recently joined the BJP.

The development comes after BJP's Delhi unit chief Satish Upadhyay was roughed up at the party headquarters in the national capital as clashes broke out between party workers over the ticket distribution for the upcoming polls.

Yesterday only, a section of BJP workers from Poorvanchal accused the party of ignoring of the Poorvanchali voters in the city by giving ticket to just one candidate from the community.

The elections for the 70-member Delhi Assembly will be held in a single phase on February 7, with the counting of votes set to take place on February 10.
