New Delhi: Campaigning for February 7 polls in Delhi will end today at 6 pm, 48 hours before the polling day.
All three major political parties -- BJP, Congress and AAP -- have campaigned hard leaving no stone unturned to woo the Delhiites at all quarters.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is eyeing a return to the power after a gap of 16 years. It has fielded 120 MPs, including Union ministers to campaign in the national capital to ensure party's thumping victory.
The party has today asked its all top brass including MPs and Union Ministers to hold rallies in all the 70 constituencies today.
"Union Ministers and party's MPs have been asked to hold at least one rally in the 70 constituencies each so that people can also be wooed by the party at the last moment," a party leader said.
BJP's star-campaigner Narendra Modi, in total, has addressed four rallies in the capital. On Wednesday, the Prime Minister, while addressing an election rally in South Delhi, appealed people to vote for a stable government in Delhi.
The saffron party has played its trump card by inducting former IPS officer Kiran Bedi into the party fold and naming her as the chief ministerial candidate.
Meanwhile, the latest India TV-CVoter opinion poll, conducted in the last week of January, has predicted that the BJP may touch the magical figure by winning 36 seats in 70-member House. According to the survey, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) will be the second largest party with 31 seats.
The Congress, which ruled Delhi for 15 years at a stretch, may find its tally reduced from eight last time to merely two this time, with 'Others' which include small parties and independents, winning the sole remaining seat.
Yesterday, the Election Commission trashed Kejriwal's claim of EVM tampering saying, "Your comments about tampering of four EVMs are totally incorrect and unacceptable. The commission expected you to ascertain the correct facts on EVMs before making the comment on social media.”
Single-phase polling in the national capital is slated for February 7 and counting of votes on February 10.
