New Delhi: Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) rebel MP Kirti Azad, who has targeted Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley for his alleged role in DDCA scam, may face action by the party high command.

Speaking to media, BJP leader Siddharth Nath today said that the party is of the view that action should be taken against Azad for embarrassing it in connection with the alleged corruption prevailing in the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA).

There are reports that the party, after the completion of ongoing Winter Session of the Parliament, may issue a show cause notice to Azad asking him to explain his ongoing tirade against his own party leader.

"Party democracy doesn't give you the right to slander and then get prodded by the opposition in Parliament. And then, you embarrass the government in Parliament. Through tweets, you provoke the leader and this entire episode amounts to gross indiscipline," Singh said.

"It's time for action. It is my feeling, because it's not giving a good name to the party. Because, this indiscipline is not giving a good signal to the party cadre," Singh added.

Yesterday, Jaitley filed a defamation suit against Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal and sought Rs 10 crore in damages for accusing him of corruption when he headed the DDCA. He also reached the Patiala House Court to file a criminal defamation complaint against Kejriwal and AAP leaders including Kumar Vishwas, Sanjay Singh and Ashutosh.

Soon after this, Azad, who has been alleging major financial bungling in the DDCA for years, demanded to know why the Union Minister had not sued him.

"I have been raising the issue of corruption in DDCA since long," the former India player said, adding, "This was my issue which was hijacked by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Congress for political gains. In fact, they have raised this issue on the basis of my letters. So the defamation case should have been filed against me. It is unfortunate that the defamation case was not filed against me."

On Sunday, Azad had alleged massive corruption in the DDCA and vowed to pursue the case till its final conclusion.

Stating that he had done no wrong by raising an issue involving Jaitley, Azad said, "What wrong I have done? I am fighting against corruption and my fight is not against any individual or any party."

He alleged that the DDCA gave out contracts to fake companies, paying them crores of rupees in cash, and had fudged the audit of accounts.
