Indian Parliamentarians charged with serious crimes

New Delhi: As a matter of fact, nearly one third of Indian MPs of 16th Lok Sabha have criminal cases pending against them. Most of these MPs will tell you that the cases registered against them are part of political conspiracy hatched by their opponents but it's not true in all the cases. Criminalization of politics, undoubtedly, is one area that needs serious and immediate attention.At the same time, it has to be acknowledged that cases are registered against some politicians when they undertake political agitations, sometimes in public interest as well. But there are also examples where some of these politicians deliberately violated the law of the land with no public interest in mind.Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while campaigning for 2014 Lok Sabha elections, had promised to take stern action against corrupt and criminal politicians without caring for their political affiliations. The nation expects him to stick to his promises.
