Lucknow, Aug 23 : Former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Kalyan Singh today demanded that a joint session of Parliament be convened to discuss and pass the “strong” Jan Lokpal Bill put forward by the civil society.
In a statement issued here, Singh said the proposed government draft on the bill was not strong enough to check corruption.
The central government should not test the patience of the people who consider corruption as the biggest hurdle in the country's development, he said.
The patron of the newly-floated Jankranti Party, who is also a Lok Sabha MP from Etah, said the massive support to social activist Anna Hazare cutting across caste, religion and region is indicative of the general sentiment in the country against corruption and the central government should honour it.
