New Delhi: Congress continued its attack on External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj even after Lok Sabha rejected adjournment motion against her role in Lalitgate.
Talking to reporters, senior Congress leader P Chidambaram said,"Why Mr. Jaitley and Sushma Swaraj selectively quoting a few words from letters instead of releasing full text of letters”.
"They did everything except answering crucial questions that arose out of Sushma Swaraj's intervention on behalf of L Modi", he added.
Chidambaram once again reiterated the point that If Sushma Swaraj wished to help Lalit Modi on purely humanitarian grounds, why did she not advise him to apply to The Indian High Commission in London for a temporary Indian travel document valid for visiting only Portugal?.
Chidamabaram also said that the government did everything except answering crucial questions that arose out of Sushma Swaraj's intervention on behalf of Lalit Modi."Why is the Govt refusing to release the letters between the Finance Ministers of the two countries" he asked
When asked about non-passage of GST bill during the Monsoon session in Rajya Sabha Chidamabaram said "We want GST, but we want a good GST, as good a GST is possible, certainly not this GST riddled with problems and issues"
He also assured that "If Governmment meet us and come to some consensus on fundamental objections, I'm sure my party which authored GST will not oppose it".
When asked about the impasse which led to the non-functioning of the Parliament during the monsoon session he said,” Monsoon session has come to an end, it started with acrimony & ended with more acrimony on part of BJP".
