New Delhi, Sep 25 : Congress on Saturday  unveiled a new slogan for the Bihar Assembly elections projecting itself as the only party which could bring about development in the state.

"Hamari ladai hai unse jo sirf baaten banate hain, Ab jarurat hai kaam ki, Bihar ke unche naam ki" (our fight is against those who only play with words. The need now is of work and to restore the glory of Bihar), the slogan conceptualised by party General Secretary Janardan Dwivedi said.

The slogan would be widely used in the six-phase Bihar Assembly elections beginning next month. The slogan written in Hindi in bold letters would be followed by the hand symbol of the party in the publicity posters.

The slogan refers to the "misrule" of RJD for 15 years even though Congress was its ally, party sources said.

"All the leaders -  Lalu Prasad and Nitish Kumar - have only played with words all these years after Congress lost power in the state. Time has come to restore the former glory of Bihar," a senior party leader said in the strategy. Sources said more such slogans would be used in the days to come when electioneering picks up and gains momentum.

Meanwhile, party sources indicated that the first list of tickets could be announced in a day or two. The meeting of the Central Election Committee, chaired by party President Sonia Gandhi, deliberated on the names on September 22 and is believed to have finalised around 140 names for the first three phases of the elections.
