Mumbai, Sep 25: A bewildered Congress Tuesday chose to keep mum on the sudden resignation of Mahrashtra Deputy Chief Minister and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Ajit Pawar.
Apparently taken aback by the developments, Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan cut short his scheduled visit to Pune Tuesday and rushed back to 'Varsha', his official residence.
Chavan was informed of Pawar's move when he was at the Mumbai Airport waiting to board a flight, an official told IANS.
However, Chavan has not yet taken any decision on Pawar's resignation so far and will only do so after consulting his (Congress) party colleagues at various levels, the official said.
Meanwhile, top Congress leaders, including state party chief Manikrao Thakre and others did not react to the unexpected move by Pawar.
