New Delhi: Congress has called a meeting of senior leaders tomorrow to discuss preparations for the April 19 farmers' rally here to protest against the land acquisition ordinance.
Party General Secretary Digvijay Singh has convened the meeting in the wake of the government re-promulgating the controversial ordinance.
The rally, on the eve of the second phase of the Budget Session, is among the series of steps the Congress, along with other opposition parties, is taking to lodge its strong protest against the Modi government's land acquisition move, both inside and outside Parliament.
According to Congress, thousands of farmers are expected to participate in the rally to be addressed by party president Sonia Gandhi.
Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi, who is on a long sabbatical, is expected to attend the rally, party sources said.
