Purnia: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today launched a blistering attack on Congress for speaking on 'rising intolerance' in the country.

Reminding the Congress party about 1984 riots against Sikhs in the wake of then PM Indira Gandhi's assassination, he said, "Do you remember November 2, 1984? What happened in Delhi? Sikhs were being killed. Serious charges were levelled against Congress... and ironically now the Congress talks of tolerance."

"Congress has no right to talk about tolerance after 1984 anti-Sikh riots. They are enacting a drama," Modi said at an election rally here.

Meanwhile, there are reports that Congress president Sonia Gandhi and vice-president Rahul Gandhi will be meeting President Pranab Mukherjee today evening to bring his attention towards 'growing intolerance' in the country.

Attacking Bihar Chief Minister on deteriorating law and order in the state, Modi said, "Our sisters and mothers are angry about the law and order situation in the state as they have to suffer the most. That is why ever since the fear of jungle raj has come, women have been coming out in favour of BJP in large numbers."

Polling in the last and fifth phase will be held at 57 seats on November 5. 827 candidates are in the fray in this phase. All 57 seats are spread in 9 districts - Saharsa, Darbhanga, Madhepura, Katihar, Purnia, Kishanganj, Araria, Supaul and Madhubani.

Counting of votes will take place on November 8.

The tenure of the Bihar Assembly expires on November 29.
